CHEHAYED Jamal

Jamal Chehayed holds a PHD in Compared Literature from the University of La Sorbonne. He teaches translation and Modern Arab Literature at the Institut Français du Proche-Orient since 1968. He is also a literary critique. His main publications are:

-         Le Structuralisme génétique (into Arabic), Dar Ibn Rouchd, 1982 (192 p.).

-         Roman et épopée from Mikaïl Bakhtine (translation into Arabic). Beirut, Ma‘had Al-Inma’ Al-‘Arabi. 1982 (71 p.).

-         Translation into French with Michel Burési of the book Poste restante de Beyrouth from Hanane Al-Cheikh (Actes Sud, 1996).

-         Translation into French with Michel Burési of the book Le Navire from Jabra Ibrahim Jabra (Arcantères and Ed. UNESCO, 1997).

-         Translation into Arabic of Entre mythe et politique from J-P. Vernant. Edited in May 1999 at Dar al-Ahali editions (Damascus).

-        Translation into Arabic of Albertine disparue from Marcel Proust, Dar Charqiyyat, Cairo, 2003.

-         Translation of Le Temps retrouvé from Marcel Proust, Dar Charqiyyat, Cairo, 2005.
