Jumana Al-Yasiri graduated in 2001 from the faculty of Theatre studies at the Damascus High Institute of Drama, where she tought drama and history of theatre from 2003 to 2009. She is an author and works as free lance cultural counsellor. Having achieved a 10 years experience in the field of cultural development, of international artistic cooperation and of performing arts, she was in charge of the world music and contemporary music programming for Damascus Arab Capital of Culture in 2008. She currently manages the programmes of the Young Arab Theatre Fund for supporting contemporary artistic production in the Arab world.
Al-Yasiri lives and studies in Paris and works on the link between the Arab Spring and artistic production in the area, as well as she continues publishing articles, interviews and literary writings on several local and international magazines.
