European platform for literary translation (PETRA)

Initiated by Passa Porta (Brussels) and supported by the Cultural Programme of the European Commission, the European Platform for Literary Translation project (PETRA), in partnership with the Polish Book Institute (Krakow), the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, the Slovak Literary Translators Association (Bratislava) and Transeuropéennes (Paris), aims to unite all existing initiatives, to give them the prominence they deserve, to encourage exchanges and trigger new forms of cooperation.

PETRA is able to draw of the expertise of associations based in over thirty countries, ten of which are active partners in the platform: CEATL (European Council of Literary Translators’ Associations), CETL (European Literary Translation Centre), Het beschrijf, ELV (Expertisecentrum Literair Vertalen), Nederlands Letterenfonds, Robert Bosch Stiftung, S. Fischer Stiftung, HALMA, the Gulbenkian Foundation and the Toledo Translators’ School.
